Two Intermediate girl students Nandini P and Manisha Reddy allegedly committed suicide by hanging themselves in their hostel room at a private college in Kadapa late last night.
Angry parents attacked the college premises and smashed furniture and vandalised the offices. While Kadapa SP Navin Gulati said that it appeared to be a clear case of suicide and also a suicide note was found in which the girls wrote they were unable to cope up with the pressure to perform well in studies.
“The note says that as they were best friends they decided to end lives together as they were unable to handle the academic stress,” the SP said. However, parents of the girls are not convinced and accused the college management of trying to supress facts and they suspect ragging.
The Nagarjuna College officials said after the college classes were over at 4:30 pm all the girls had returned to their rooms as there was one hour break before study hours started at 5:30 pm. “This happened sometime after they went to their room for the break. We have informed police and it is under investgation,” an official said.
